We are a climate smart focused registered local NGO in Malawi with a mission to improve the resiliency of smallholder farmers, and the overall food and eco-system services, in the face of changing climate through agriculture and environmental-friendly oriented entrepreneurship. We believe in sustainable approaches that include the marginalized groups (youth and women) in crafting solutions to the food and socio-economic challenges faced in their communities due to the effects of climate change. In a recent world where the climatic change and its effects have put so much negative impacts on the rural vulnerable groups, and hence our focus on green business. Green business is an enterprise that has minimal negative impact on the global or local environment, community, society, or economy—a business that strives to meet the triple bottom line.
GL in its core thinking incorporates green business approaches i.e. market focused honey value chain development aimed at uplifting the economic and health standards of women and youths. This is done through activities that are environmentally friendly to ensure that all value chain processes and activities adequately address environmental concerns while maintaining profit.
Conservation Agriculture (CA) is a system of integrated management of soil, water and biological resources combined with external inputs. As a concept of sustainable agricultural production, it is promoted by several organizations including GL. CA aims to achieve sustainable and profitable agriculture through the application of three principles: minimal soil disturbance, permanent soil cover and crop rotation. It is a way to combine profitable agricultural production with environmental concerns and sustainability and it has been proven to work in a variety of agroecological zones and farming systems. In partnership with FISD, GL promotes the use of renewable energy for irrigation (Solar irrigation). So far GL has directly trained 108 (50 Males and 58 Females) farmers (as ToTs) in CA, organic farming (i.e. garlic) and manure making.

Community Self-Help Group are self-governed, peer controlled, informal group of people with same socio-economic background and having a desire to collectively perform common purposes. Here poor people voluntarily come together to save whatever amount they can save conveniently out of their earnings, to mutually agree to contribute to a common fund and to lend to the members for meeting their productive and emergent needs.
In Dowa SHGs have been able to mobilize small savings either on weekly basis from women who were not expected to have any savings. They have been able to effectively recycle the resources generated among the members for meeting the emergent credit needs of members of the group.
